I envision a future where all scale power plants don't directly generate electricity, they generate heat and store it

Intermediate thermal storage knocks like 1-2% off of your ultimate efficiency but it solves basically every problem. Nuclear is high power but slow warm-up, nuclear plants could basically pulse power to a thermal intermediate. Sometimes the sun doesn't shine or the wind doesn't blow, but the thermal batteries will stay hot for 12 hours at full load. Electric energy usage patterns are sometimes weirdly spiky and that's fine, thermal storage is lightning fast and can have a bit of over-peak capacity

It would require new infrastructure but almost all electrical generation methods are just steam turbines that run on some sort of process heat anyway so it's really simple to do

Worst case scenario you could just hook an existing unmodified power plant up to thermal storage via giant electric heater and sacrifice a few more points of efficiency as an interim measure

This is also true. Solar panels aren't known for durability and can lose a lot of efficiency based on the time of day as it depends on the direction the sunlight is coming from

I was looking at the new New Vegas mod for Fallout 4, ngl, Looks badass, but......I was also the same idiot that ran around with only a suit the whole game, so I'm not sure if armor is something I need to pay attention to or not, come to think of it.....I kinda played the game like an idiot...I dumped all my point into luck, used guns that looked cool rather than use the ones based on my skills and strength.....Maybe I'm not meant to jump into the wasteland

Back in the Win9x days it was really common for alt-tabbing out of a game to just outright crash it or screw up the resolution/color palette so you'd have to restart it to get it working again

Sorry for the wall of text but: Moving from DOS to Windows game development was a bit of a hurdle because DOS doesn't have memory management or multitasking so your game can just take over the whole computer and do what it wants, whereas in windows you have other tasks running in the background and Win9x didn't really have good facilities for like, full screen apps and direct screen rendering.

I'm not sure whether you will be able to get a replacement absentee ballot or whether you can just straight up cast your vote there (my impression is both are allowed but I'm not 100% sure) so it might be advantageous for her to research what's on the ballot and have a list of her choices in advance, just in case.
